ALL GIRL GK CAMP IN AURORA
Dec 21/12-6 pm and Dec 22 & 23 / 9-3 pm Aurora Sports Dome
This is the 2nd edition of the ALL Girl GK Camp format for me as I had my first AGGK in 2010 in Whitby and my guest coach was none other than the USWNT GK Coach Paul Rogers. Paul had helped Hope Solo reach the top level of women’s soccer not to mention her International career which was thriving. I believe Paul was responsible for giving Hope what she needed to succeed at the highest level and stay consistent. Paul has been a great friend since we met and we stay in touch when possible. Paul is now the Head GK Coach in the MLS with Houston Dynamo. Since that Camp in 2010 my EGK girls have been killing it with success on the field at all levels. Some of the girls at that camp went on to scholarships and now playing professional women’s soccer.
This time around the Coaching Staff will consist of all EGK Alumni that have been through my Extreme Training Program and are now playing Professionally or are in University on Scholarships. Its incredible for me to see how far they have come in their careers that continue to evolve in front of my eyes. I couldn’t be more proud of all my goalkeepers as I know the struggles that they have been through over the years because I have been the one constant in their soccer lives and I continue to be there years after they graduate and move on with their lives because we are EGK Family 4 Life…
The Guest Coaches at this ALL Girl Gk Camp will be Devon Kerr who graduated this year from Ohio State University with honors and mentions. I started training Devon when she was 10 years old driving to Barrie on the weekend to work with her. From an early age I knew Devon had all the tools to make it as she was always pushing me to train with the boys. Devon was a part of the Canadian National Teams from the age of 14-20 where she then moved over to the American National Team @ U20. This year Devon signed a Professional Contract with the Houston Dash organization which plays in the NWSL. Its amazing that the Gk Coach who was at our 1st AGGK Paul Rogers was the same GK Coach responsible for helping Devon get to Houston. The friendships you make in this beautiful game can last a lifetime if you honor them. Thanks Paul.
The next Gk working this Camp will be Ariana Anastasiadis who has been with me since she was 12 years old. I have watched Ariana blossom into a tremendous gk over the years as she pursued a soccer scholarship as her main goal. Ariana chased the provincial program as so many players pursue through the OPDL but was never recognized until I moved her to ANB Academy 2 years ago. Once she joined that Academy something changed in her I saw the fire in her eyes and she finally started communicating the way I needed her to. Bassam Naim the technical director also saw what I saw in Ariana as he started pushing her to me more aggressive and it finally happened when ANB had a European scout showcase here in Aurora last year and that’s when she and 2 other girls were scouted by Le Havre in the 2nd Div of French football. Now Ariana is in France pursuing a professional career and now has he eyes set on playing for Greece in the future.
Finally we have our University Scholarship Gks first is Melody Mezzina who has been training with me for 2 years I believe now and in that time she has really excelled and pushed herself almost to the point of overstretching her body, sometimes you need someone to tell you how important recovery is for your body just as activities outside of soccer are very important to the balance in your life not to mention how important your families will be on the march to Greatness… Melody is now in her Freshman year at West Carolina University where she’s playing great this year and racking up minutes that don’t come easily in Div 1 soccer.
Next we have Alicia Chisholm who I’ve trained for the last 4 years now. Alicia has always played at the highest level and has been pushing herself for years now. Alicia is like so many great young gks out there trying to make it and sometimes we have obstacles that are blocking our path forward. This is where you need someone in your corner to guide you through the tough times and uncertain decisions. Alicia is in her freshman year at The University of Institute Technology in Oshawa. This year Alicia has also put up some great minutes playing 12 games and making 71 saves.

This Goalkeeping Camp will focus our attention on the Technical Skill Levels of each Gk and how they utilize those techniques in training. We will focus on footwork and set positions of goalkeepers in relation to the ball and the shot. We will work on Cross Taking and understanding the meaning of Box Domination in today’s game. We will spend a lot of time on pass backs and playing safely out of the back when necessary and learning how to initiate a counter attack from a throw or a well placed kick. We will explain and show them how important communication is to a top level gk as it not only tells your players where to be but it can motivate your players on those days when nothing is working.
I will be running this Camp as I run all EGK Camps with one mission and that is to help every Gk overcome their weaknesses and build on their strengths. I will also continue my process of toughening up our female GK’s Physically & Mentally so they can play with more confidence and strength and are then more able to deal with whatever the game throws at them…
Their will be an end of Camp Evaluation where I will give the girls a brief description of what we’ve seen over the three days of training. We will have question periods each day where the girls can ask questions freely among themselves without any interference from anyone. I look forward to helping as many girls as possible with this Camp so don’t miss your opportunity to reserve your spot now.
